		<description>I think these are absolutely great initiatives. In the long run, I think these projects will inspire other initiatives to support diversity more. The old days of the sexist hacker groups will fall in no time. 

I really enjoyed the speech today at OSCON about women and Open Source. Very moving.</description>

My mother is a quilter, and that is quite a similar situation. Predominately women, all creative types, with an understanding of structure (and probably fairly easily able to pick up ideas on components etc).

The only real difference (and temporary limiting factor) is that most of them are older and less technologically savvy.

But the quilting world certain has a reasonable sub-35 population from which you could draw.</description>
