@candice My previous post and the comments on it show most of my decision process -- basically just that and Amazon reviews. As to brightness, I'd say that at the maximum brightness (setting 20) it's about on par with a 60W or 75W incandescent lightbulb: a decent brightness for a room where you're doing stuff, but not *really* bright. Definitely brighter than you'd want for a bedside lamp under ordinary circumstances, but not "oh god my eyes!" bright.

I really really need a dawn simulator and I have been researching like crazy. With that kind of price I don't want to get the wrong one. Why did you decide on this one and how bright is it (I can't find this answer anywhere).

Regarding the operating voltage, it does look as though there are different models for different territories. I think the equivalent in Europe is the HF3475. In looking that up I notice that they've reduced the price since last I looked. I might allow myself to be tempted at that price, esp. after a positive recommendation.

Fab! Please do post about this again in a month or so; I'd love to hear how the experiment turns out, and how much you like the particular device you chose.

I already have them in some rooms (eg kitchen, bathroom) but not others (living room) because they are a bit too bright and cheery for evening chill-out time.

Nice one!

I reiterate my suggestion of daylight-spectrum CFLs throughout the house. Damn they're nice. Getting steadily cheaper too.

Neat! I'll be interested to hear how it works for you in the upcoming weeks. I find that many of my attempts at improving my sleep schedule work well for a couple of weeks while I'm all excited about my New Plan, but I eventually drift back into my suboptimal patterns :/ If this works long-term for you, I'll definitely have to think about getting one!
